Living in Mount Lebanon, PA: Why We Love Moving to This Pittsburgh Suburb
"Mount Lebanon" primarily refers to a historic mountain range in Lebanon famous for its cedars and skiing. However, it also names a prosperous Pittsburgh suburb known for excellent schools and walkability, as well as a peak in Montana.
Where is Mount Lebanon Located?
Mount Lebanon is a fantastic place to live, located about seven miles south of downtown Pittsburgh. Because of its great location, it is surrounded by many other popular communities. These neighbors include Brookline, Banksville, Dormont, Scott Township, Upper St. Clair, Bethel Park, Castle Shannon, and Baldwin Township. This central spot makes it easy to get around the greater Pittsburgh area.
Our Personal Connection to the Community
We have deep roots here. I was actually born in Mount Lebanon at St. Clair Hospital, and so was my youngest daughter. I even had my very first apartment here after college and flipped my first couple of houses in this neighborhood. It is a place that feels like home because, for us, it really is home.
Shopping and Dining in Uptown Lebanon
If you love food and shopping, you will love it here. Most of the restaurants and shops can be found in Uptown Lebanon, right along Washington Road. We also enjoy the Galleria Mall and a cute little area located on Beverly Road. One of our favorite spots to eat is Luma Restaurant.
Parks and Recreation: Fun for Everyone
If you like being active, this town has amazing options. A large portion of the area is actually listed as the Mount Lebanon Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places.
For fun and sports, the community offers:
• 15 parks
• An Olympic-sized swimming pool
• A regulation-sized ice rink
• Sand volleyball and bocce courts
• Platform tennis and picnic pavilions
• Children’s playgrounds
• One of the oldest golf courses in Western Pennsylvania
We also have several heated tennis courts that are covered with bubbles in the winter, so you can play year-round.

Commuting Made Easy with "The T"
Getting to downtown Pittsburgh is very simple thanks to the trolley, which locals call "The T". The T has been serving this area since the early 1900s. It is a great way to avoid traffic when heading downtown for work or sporting events. It is also great for teenagers because they can go into town to do things without needing to drive and park. Our girls used the T a lot growing up.
Real Estate Market Report: What Does it Cost?
If you are looking to buy a home, it is important to know the numbers. The average home price in Mount Lebanon is about $425,000 (as of Oct 2025 per Redfin). Because it is such a desirable area, most sellers are getting tgheir asking price when staged, prepared, and marketed properly.
